SCOIL MHAOLCHEADAR 5-6 KNOCKACLARIG NS. 1-7 Our great run in the Allianz League came to an end at Caherslee, Tralee when we were defeated by a very good team from An Gaeltacht. It was even enough at half-time. In the second half we won plenty possession but failed to build up the scores. On the other hand Scoil Mhaolcheadar scored some very important goals. That was the difference. we now wish Scoil Mhaolcheadar the very best when they contest the final. Saturday, November 7

KNOCKACLARIG NS. 5-6 KILCONLY NS. 1-13 On Wednesday last we travelled to the Duagh GAA Grounds for our quarter-final game with Kilconly NS. the North Kery champions. We played with the wind in the first half and led at half-time by 2-3 to1-3,our goals coming from Killian and Martie. The second half produced a great game of football. Kilconly using the strong wind bombarded our goal with fierce attacks and wiped out our lead. We switched Patrick to mid-field and this resulted in Muiris scoring a great goal followed by another from the same player. Kilconly were not giving up and continued with some more great point scoring. However, with Jennifer and Muiris looking very dangerous in the attack we held out for a great win. We are now in the semi-final of the competition. Friday, October 23

Kerry's 36th All-Ireland being celebrated at Knockaclarig NS.
Tadhg Kennelly and Sam Maguire arrived at school on time. Both were given a mighty welcome. After the speeches there followed an hour long session of photographs and autographs . Michael Brosnan of Kerry's Eye took loads of photographs . He tells us they will appear in the next edition of his paper. A homework free night was declared on the recommendation of Tadhg. After all 36 (All-Irelands) is a square number. We consider number theory an important strand in Mathematics.Tricia Murphy, a parent took some video footage of the event and we shall upload it when we get a chance. Video footage uploaded;Click on Paperclip:Fast Broadband needed.

KNOCKACLARIG NS. 5-11 CLOGHER NS. 4-2 We followed up our away win against Loughfouder NS. with another exciting victory over Clogher NS. at the local Brosna GAA grounds. While we ran out easy winners on the scoreboard this was a very hard earned success. At half time we led by just one point 2-5 to 3-1. In the second half we improved. Killian had some excellent points, three from play and five from frees. Patrick played a captain's part in that second half. Muiris was brilliant at midfield and Marty scored another classy goal. Our girls were once again excellent. We introduced two substitutes Innis and Conor and both had good games and gained valuable experience. We would like to thank Brosna GAA club for the use of its beautiful grounds. The playing area was marked, flagged and goalposts netted. The club also operated the electronic scoreboard which added to the event. Our next game is against St. John's Parochial School in Tralee at a date and venue to be known early next week. Thursday, October 1

All-Ireland Ladies' Football Final 2009. CORK 1-9 DUBLIN 0-11
Congratulations to local Rockchapel footballer, Brid Stack, a member of the Cork Ladies' football team which won an historic 5 in a row at Croke Park on Sunday last. Several of our pupils were at the match. Last year Brid visited us with The Brendan Martin Trophy and we hope to see her again in the coming weeks when the team and the trophy goes on the school tour circuit. Brid's father, Michael is,of course, school principal at Rockchapel NS. our neighbouring school.
Brid and Brendan on tour last year !!!!! Our school captain, Patrick Collins passed a mathematical remark on the scoreline.Patrick pointed out that 1-9 won the All-Ireland for the Cork Ladies on Sunday whilst the week beforehand 1-9 lost the All-Ireland for the Corkmen.Patrick also ruefully pointed out that in 2007 All-Ireland Senior Football Final the Corkmen also scored an identical 1-9. What a significant score 1-9, 1-9, 1-9. Wednesday, September 30

KNOCKACLARIG NS. 4-5 LOUGHFOUDER NS. 2-3
We got our Cumann na mBunscol Allianz League campaign of to a flying start with victory over our neighbours Loughfouder at the splendid Knocknagoshel GAA Grounds. It was a great game of football. The first half was very even . we led at half time by a point 2-3 to 2-2. We expected a tough second half as Loughfouder had the wind in their favour. However we put in a great second half with our two girls, Jennifer and Patricia starring. Goals from Marty, and Muiris put us into a strong lead and we ran out worthy winners in a very sporting game. Michael in goals had another great game and saved us on several occasions. Our next game is in Brosna next week when we take on Ballymacelligot opposition in the shape of old rivals Clogher NS. Knockaclarig NS. would like to thank the media for all the attention they lavished on our school as the build up to the final began in earnest. We got mighty publicity on local station Radio Kerry. Our captain and vice-captain gave great interviews to the station which generated massive feedback from both sides of the border. We would like to thank photographers, Eileen O'Connor (The Corkman), John Reidy (the Kerryman) and Owen O'Shea(Kerry's Eye ) for the splendid images. We would also like to thank Marisa Reidy (The Kerryman) and Owen O'Shea again for the great writeups. We thank Radio Kerry producer Treasa Murphy for organising the live radio programme and thanks to John Greene for conducting the interviews.
